IR-index is a composite measure that relies on FTIR spectroscopy and is used to assess total chemical change in the oil. It captures the sum of oxidation, nitration, fuel entanglement and loss of additives.
The spectrum is automatically interpreted and gives one aggregate value that shows how much the oil has changed since it was new.
This gives the customer a simple indicator of the health status of the oil and whether it is time for an oil change — ideal for trend monitoring.
