Particle counting provides a picture of how many solid particles are present in the oil sample and in what sizes. The analysis is important for assessing the purity of the system, and is particularly relevant in hydraulics and high pressure systems.
We use optical measurement or laser-based techniques that classify particles into different size ranges (typically ≥4μm, ≥6μm, ≥14μm). Results are often reported according to purity classes (ex. BIG 4406).
The customer receives a clear indication of the level of contamination in the system and can use this to optimize filtration and maintenance routines.
