Membrane Patch Colorimetry (MPC) measures the risk of varnish formation in lubrication systems, a problem that can lead to wedging and valve failure. Varnish is formed by oxidation products that become insoluble and settle as a coating.
The sample is filtered through a membrane filter, and the color formed is analyzed digitally. A high color value indicates high varnish formation.
The customer receives an early warning of potential problems, and can take action such as filtration, fluid treatment or replacement.
