Soot in oil is a combustion product and occurs particularly in diesel engines. Too much soot makes the oil thick and wear-causing, and can lead to blockages and failures of system components.

The soot content is measured using FTIR or thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). We consider quantity and particle distribution.

The customer gets insight into combustion quality, the ability of the oil to keep the soot in suspension and whether more frequent oil changes are needed.
