DGA is used to analyze dissolved gases in transformer oil – an important tool for detecting early signs of electrical faults such as partial discharge, arcing or overheating.
The sample is gas analyzed using gas chromatography, and typical gases such as hydrogen, methane, ethylene, ethane and carbon monoxide are quantified.
The result gives the customer a precise picture of the condition of the transformer, and warns of potential errors before they develop into serious damage or failure.
