Glycol in oil is a clear sign of a leak from the cooling system – which can lead to serious engine damage. Even small amounts of glycol can cause sludge formation and blockages in the oil system.

The analysis is performed using a chemical test that specifically identifies glycol-based compounds in the sample. In addition, FTIR data is interpreted if available.

A positive finding requires immediate follow-up. The customer is clearly informed of the need for further troubleshooting and that the oil should be changed as soon as possible.
