The IR-Index is a composite measure based on FTIR spectroscopy and is used to assess the total chemical change in the oil. It captures the sum of oxidation, nitration, fuel admixture and additive loss.
The spectrum is automatically interpreted and provides one overall value that shows how much the oil has changed since it was new.
This gives the customer a simple indicator of the oil's health and whether it is time for an oil change – ideal for trend monitoring.
