The PQ-Index (Particle Quantifier Index) measures the amount of ferromagnetic particles in the oil sample – often a sign of wear in steel-containing components. It provides a quick and quantitative indication of serious wear damage.
The sample is exposed to a magnetic field, and the particle quantity is calculated based on how strong the signal is. The result is not affected by particle size, but by the total mass of ferrous material.
The customer receives an important warning about potentially serious machine wear and can react before the problem develops into a breakdown.
