Soot in oil is a combustion product and occurs particularly in diesel engines. Too much soot makes the oil thick and wear-inducing, and can lead to blockages and failure of system components.

The soot content is measured using FTIR or thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). We assess the amount and particle distribution.

The customer gains insight into combustion quality, the oil's ability to keep soot in suspension and whether more frequent oil changes are needed.
