Turbidity measures the cloudiness of a liquid and provides a quick indication of how many suspended particles are present. It is used for water samples, coolants and emulsions to assess purity and particle levels.

The sample is illuminated, and the amount of light scattered by the particles is recorded as a turbidity value (NTU).

The result shows whether the liquid is contaminated, whether microparticles or bacterial growth are present, and whether filtration or purification measures should be implemented.
