The antiwear analysis assesses the amount of antiwear additives still present in the oil – particularly relevant in hydraulic and transmission systems. These substances reduce friction and prevent metal-to-metal contact between moving parts.
Using spectroscopic methods, we measure the concentration of compounds such as zinc and phosphorus, often used in antiwear additives.
The result gives the customer an assessment of how well the oil still protects against wear. Low levels indicate that the oil is losing its protective effect and should be considered for replacement.
