The Antiwear analysis assesses how much of the wear-protecting additives are still present in the oil -- particularly relevant in hydraulic and gear systems. These substances reduce friction and prevent metal contact between moving parts.
Using spectroscopic methods, we measure the concentration of compounds such as zinc and phosphorus, often used in antiwear additives.
The result gives the customer an assessment of how well the oil still protects against abrasion. Low content suggests that the oil is losing its protective effect and should be considered for replacement.
