Particle counting

Standards:
ISO 4406
NAS 1638
SAE 749D
Unit:
Number of particles per size per 100 ml or 1 ml (µm)
Sample volume :
30 ml
Measuring ranges:
ISO 4406 size classes > 4µm, > 6µm, > 14µm - NAS 1638 classes

Particle counting provides an indication of how many solid particles are present in the oil sample and in what sizes. The analysis is important for assessing the cleanliness of the system, and is particularly relevant in hydraulics and high-pressure systems.

We use optical measurement or laser-based techniques that classify particles into different size ranges (typically ≥4μm, ≥6μm, ≥14μm). The results are often reported according to purity classes (e.g. ISO 4406).

The customer gets a clear indication of the level of contamination in the system and can use this to optimize filtration and maintenance routines.
