Water content analysis in ppm (parts per million) provides a very accurate measurement of how much water is present in the oil sample. Even small amounts of water can lead to corrosion, reduced lubricity and weakened additives.
The measurement is performed using coulometric titration, a method that provides high precision at low concentrations. The sample is heated, and the water that evaporates reacts with a reagent that allows the exact amount of water to be measured.
The customer can quantify the water content in the oil and take action if there are signs of leakage, condensation or contamination. This is especially important in systems where water is not desired at all.
